05Sheet piling and pile driving

A sheet-pile wall draws a dry line where there is none — in the water. We drive sheet piles and bearing piles from floating platforms, hold the plant on station with an anchor spread and check the submerged part of the wall with divers.

Driving from the water

Where the line of the wall runs across the water, the piling rig or an excavator with an attachment sits on a pontoon. We work out the platform layout for the weight of the plant, hold it in its design position with an anchor spread and step it along as the wall advances. A tug brings materials and moves the platform.

Checking below the surface

The top of the wall is visible; the rest is not. Our divers inspect the driven elements, confirm the interlocks have closed, record deviations and the state of the bed at the wall, and hand over photo and video material. That catches a deviation before it becomes a problem for the whole line.

Combined with the rest of the work

A cofferdam is rarely a job on its own: excavation, filling and installation follow. We keep the whole set on site — pontoons, tug, excavator, dive team — so the stages run without a pause to change contractor.
